Request for a Developer role

Hello,

I don’t know how to put it softly, but I am not satisfied with development of Synfig. There is clearly stagnation. Pull requests are hanging for months or even years, same with issues - a lot of them are just ignored without any labels/feedback. I’ve been a member of this community for how long? 11 Years? And there’s barely any progress in development, Jesus Christ…

We started strong with that new Cobra engine, then the lead developer left leaving all of this in a WIP state that we still can’t properly fix. Rodolforg is the only developer that was brave enough to tackle this disgusting Cobra mess and seeing his work just hanging there without any resolution makes me sad. I am afraid he’s gonna give up with contributions one day because if no one cares why should he? I tried to contribute a bit too, some icons, a bit of documentation that, by the way, still hangs in the PR with no feedback.

In short, I want to propose my help. I am, just like every other adult, is busy with work but at least I still care about Synfig. Can you give me a developer role on Github? My plans are:

  • Testing stuff and approving PRs (I desperately want rodolforg’s work to get merged)
  • Managing issues and PRs (giving feedback, labeling, closing old/no longer relevant)
  • Contributing myself (documentation, icons, maybe code too if it’s something simple I can handle)

So what do you all think? @KonstantinDmitriev @ice0

Hi guys!

Sorry for the long absence.

Currently we both (Konstantin and me) is busy on animation production.
Today we discussed this situation with him, so for now I plan to spend less time on animation work and increase my time on Synfig.
So I am back to PR review and merge.

And let’s welcome the new contributor.
I hope for a successful collaboration.
