keeping pixel data as pure as possible

I’m trying to create a purposely pixelated character animation to keep a retro look, I noticed synfig does a lot of blurring and blending of the pixels. I was wondering if there were any settings I could use to keep the effect I’m looking for.

an example would be like the animation in Another World or in any old school rpg

I remember H13N.H3N was trying to get the same look

The best way I can think of, render your character low res, and rescale your render without any interpolation

At the render dialog, choose quality 0 and it won’t antialiase the pixels. Also, you can achieve similar effect for Region and Outline layers unchecking the Antialiasing parameter.
