Finally managed to get another artwork done…..
Summer Afternoon Laundry Time~
Though I don’t particularly feel very proud of this one….. ![]()
let me explain.
So this artwork started off as a project to finally spring myself back to YouTube after an indefinite hiatus.
And to make sure I can give the best “first” impression as possible, I planned out a drawing that is quite ambitious.
The plan was to make this drawing and add as many details as possible, especially on that house, the sky, the tree, grass, almost everywhere! Heck, I’d like to add a second character on the background if possible.
Turns out that was way too ambitious for me, basically chewing more than I can swallow… ![]()
It started off pretty okay, albeit very tricky. I had to get some reference image on hand, because I haven’t drawn most of those stuff before; like that type of tree, those fences, that grassland.
And then I got to the house part, and things got pretty hectic from there.![]()
(this is simply because I have never drawn a house before either)
With the house bit, so much brain work involved in the process. Having to learn its structure and perspectives, how it’d be drawn on vectors, coming up with layer structures and links, etc.
And amidst of this, I still had to deal with IRL stuff, mainly my family and I moving to a different city (back to my hometown), and reinstalling my laptop (long story short, clean format and a fresh Win11 install after testing different OSs twice; at least for the time being).
On top of that, I had another project ongoing alongside this one, albeit pretty slow because some mindful designs are quite needed for that one. I can’t explain it rn just yet, but we’ll get there, hopefully before 2025 ends~ ![]()
I also managed to come up with a much better structured layering setup for my main workflow; involving using “blank layers” as layer-stack labels and removing unnecessary additions to my working file.
Yes, that also means the layer tree in this one is quite atrocious, I am actually getting annoyed by it. Also the thought of having to finely detail some parts while weaving through all those layers got me pretty overwhelmed (especially since shading in vectors are intricately limiting). So much so, I was having a hard time to bring myself to continue this one everytime I came back to it. ![]()
Eventually, after finishing 87% of the house (alongside of the rest being pretty much at 95-100), and after kept getting some peer pressure of my own to get this one done already, I decided to call it there.
I added some more polishing and cleanup (extra outlines, shades, etc.), before then closing this one and move on.

At the end, this took me 1-2 weeks worth of working hours, spanned across almost 3 months.
(I really need to stop procrastinating ISTG…. ><)
So yeah, not my best work, but I don’t think this is too bad either (though it’s still very bad in some sense).
It could’ve been better, but like I said, I need to move on.![]()
btw the artwork title is intentionally worded like so for that reason… S.A.L.T. ![]()
….oh yeah, about that YouTube video?
I….. haven’t made it yet…. ![]()
Back when I moved to another city, I had to leave the laptop that I used to record my screen captures (I used OBS-NDI to do so) back at the previous house, and alongside it, most of the video footages that showed the drawing process of this artwork. This is because that laptop’s screen is pretty much dead, it needs an external monitor to use properly. And I couldn’t be bothered to bring them all with me at that time.
Oh well, maybe next time, when I finally got my hands on them… ![]()
Additional note: the previous house that we left to move to another city is also my family’s house, and my brother still lives there. He had to stay due to having a job there. It is also why I can leave the broken laptop there with no issues.
Good thing the distance of both cities are not too far, and can still be reached with a car, so we can still travel back and forth for some family gathering occasions if needed~
