How do I rotate a rectangle?

First I select the layer of the rectangle. Then I select the rotate tool. The cursor changes into rotating arrows. I hover the cursor over the rectangle and try clicking/dragging. Anywhere. Nothing happens!! What do I do wrong?

You don’t do anything wrong, the use of Rectangle layer is a common problem but Synfig has its own philosophy :stuck_out_tongue:
Just use a Group layer like described in this post well named Make Simple things simple, Complex things complex
