changing existing video

Hi guys,
Im quite a newbee in the whole synfig/animation process and I have a general question: I have an animation video (.avi) and I want to make some small changes of the drawings (in the background, so the animated process won’t be affected by it).
So I wanted to ask if it’s possible to add a certain drawing without changing anything else with synfig studio? Or if there is any other software I could use for that?

You can’t do this directly with Synfig.
What you need is a non-linear video editor to do your assembly of animation and video.
You can find some here, as you don’t say which operating system you use.
The most common is to produce a series of PNG with transparency and import them in the non-linear video editor above the video track.
