If I wanted to sketch out animation on paper, scan it, and then color it, can I use synfig for that? Is synfig good for digital ink and coloring?
It is possible to import image stacks into Synfig and the switch layer can handle frame-by-frame animations. Synfig’s tools for digital painting are limited since its focus is primarily on vector art in the same vein as Inkscape and Adobe Illustrator. For more painterly, freeform, or sketchy art styles, Krita may be worth considering as it also has some animation tools.
