What is the most practical way to take a piece of video, convert it into a series of images then put a list of all those images into a text file?

First take the video and convert it to a png sequence:
entropyfarm.org/software/tricks/
Then use the Rylleman script on nautilus to create a lst file from a png sequence:
rylanderanimation.se/2009/07/28/ … -lst-file/

Change the frame rate if needed in the LST file.
