In android Google has the user data, in macOS Apple has the user data, in Windows Microsoft has the user data. What’s the difference?

Here it will be hardware locke, connected to your M$ account, in some cases deleting data even from Linux partitions, full analysis of any action made on your computer in real time and monitored by AI …
Watch the video, made by an expert, you will see that it is like the convergence of all the system of controls like Digital ID.
In this case, whole your digital life is owned by M$, your machine, your data …

Oh no, we’re all doomed… The man in the video isn’t really an expert - you can hear how he says “…all that security BS… say no to Microsoft unless you believe in this AI-companion BS…” without considering that there might be people who are interested in it. So he just spills his own bias on everyone. Besides, Copilot can be disabled and TPM requirements can be lifted and Microsoft ID can also be lifted and even Secure Boot can still be disabled. So it’s configurable. And Windows ruining partitions it can’t recognize? I think it was always the case like even back in Windows XP because Microsoft does suck in a lot of areas.

So in the end, home users will eat whatever defaults Microsoft gives them and maybe it’s for the better (I support forced updates for example, even though there are problems with it). For the rest of us, tech savvy people, we will just disable what we don’t want or indeed switch to Linux (which by the way isn’t some Holy Grail some people paint it to be).

Im using Linux mint, Win XP 64-bit and Win 10 on different pc’s. If you know what youre doing and allowing you should be ok. Mint and XP are my favourites. Im still running some Macromedia apps on XP. I miss the days when software were like max 30-130mb in size. When adobe bought macromedia the installers became around 1-1,5 gb. And still old software have many times all the features you need.

I switched to Linux Mint last year, after the whole Adobe Terms of Use fiasco. Made me fed up with Big Tech entirely, which is why I am now switching my entire suite to FOSS, despite the learning curves and some missing features.
I do teach a bit, and we have to use Win11+Adobe, for reasons, but my business is running on Linux, which I find much more comfortable than Win11.
But everyone should do as they please. I value privacy and control over data a lot, which I feel is slipping away more and more for convenience sake.

Or just use LTSC.

This could have been a one line solution.

Tbh, windows 11 has none of that bs right now, and as long as it supports majority of the apps I use, it’s good, windows 11 has a great design, security, and being so much popular, will always have a way to block all those things that the unprofessional guy said in the video. Like you can still block ms account creation, almost change anything you want in windows 11, you just need to work more, Linux just allows you directly to, Linux has mostly community based support, very less actual support by the company that makes the distro, for Microsoft, you can call the customer care, ask your neighbour, or go to a computer shop for help.

The account binding is not a malpractice, it’s like every other company on earth, google does it, and can lock or delete your info, so with apple.

Tpm requirements can be removed with rufus.

You can disable bitlocker.

You can block updates all together from the services or registery.

Ai is good, copilot is good, criticise recall.

I would rather use LTSC if windows 11 is such a problem.

I would say Linux is more secure, if hackers want to affect large population obviously they will target platform that has bigger userbase. And for now Windows is dominating personal computers

I’m looking forward switching to Linux. I plan to dual boot for a while to test the waters, then eventually find two OS of my liking one for gaming and another for regular work. The idea sounds super promising right now.
Not sure how exactly the future security risks of win10 will work, I remember seeing people use win8 in the past and its seems just fine. idk.

Linux is more secure because less people would attack it, if we do a direct comparison windows is better in terms of security. It still handles very large attacks, yes it may fail many times but it is ahead of Linux security

Alternatively, use any cheap chromebook laptop to surf the web with and unplug your workstation from the internet and use any OS you want.

I don’t really think so, even when “it’s more secure because it has less attacks“ then it still means it’s more secure. Ignoring that do we even know how good or bad is Win security? It’s proprietary software after all, with Linux no the other hand thousands of people are looking at the code and if there’s security risk people will patch it. If Linux is so unsafe it wouldn’t be used to run over 95% of internet, government and science facilities wouldn’t use it. Linux dominated almost everything except PCs

They use outsourced softwares, like crowdstrike. Linux by default isn’t as secure as windows, outsourced softwares are also used for windows servers, but I would consider windows more secure than Linux at any point because windows is close sourced.
