Text Layer Charset? Problems with german "Umlauts"

Hi there,

I have a problem with german strings (including Umlauts) in Text Layers. Instead of “ä” there are only two empty boxes shown in the preview window. In the Params Window everything is fine.

I am using Ubuntu 8.04 with UTF-8 encoding. I switched my system to ISO8859-15 (8-Bit charset) as the two boxes indicated a problem with UTF-8, but nothing changed. Is there a workaround for that issue or am I doing wrong? What charset is supported by text layers?

Please update to the latest release or compile and install synfig & synfigstudio from svn. I think it is already corrected as you has commented in the IRC.
