I’ve been doing a lot of exporting to sif files from the latest build of Inkscape and it works really well. I find I have to do a few workarounds if I want to group objects. I tend to put all the objects I need to group on their own layer in inkscape. This way, they end up in a ‘group’ once in the sif format.
