Is there a way to save selected objected only as png, jpg or otherwise. For example if you use render ,you render as png, is there a way to render selected object only, to it’s specific dimensions automatically

Currently no, there isn’t.

Thanks for the reply, since Synfig can be used for image editing, at least such a feature should exit. I was experimenting with cutout tool and wanted to save the result.

Better still, I think with a few lines of code, it can be accomplished with an add-on.

Please tag some developers, to make an add-on about it, in their free time

You can still copy/paste the selected object to a new project or hide the other objects before render.

It depends what you call “specific dimensions”.
Synfig is vectorial first, the dimensions of an object in the canvas is relative to the current canvas size.
While it can be fixed to a specific size for convenience and work with bitmaps, it is not exactly the purpose.

Note that it can still be exported as png, then cropped in an app like GIMP or even ImageMagick in script if you know the coordinates, then converted to jpeg if needed.

If you have ever used inkscape, it has a this feature, where you can export selected object only as png or otherwise.

ie **Trims the bounding box:** Instead of saving the full default page canvas, it dynamically shrinks the borders of the final file to fit the exact width and height of your selected objects.

Group the selected layer and hide the rest, then export as png (make sure to set the duration to 0s)
