quick animatic background question.

Hi. I’ve seen on youtube that it was recommend to do the animatics for your characters first, then do the background next. I’ve never done that before (I usually do them at the same time.), and I’m sorta thinking about giving it a try. What’s the reason behind this?

The audience interest should be on the characters and it is the task that must be worked with more preparation. Backgrounds can be developed in parallel and in the final stage of the production. A rough background is enough to place the character animation. Also, usually, backgrounds are mostly static so they require less work.
It is just a question of apply the resources where it is more important, I think.
