In GIMP I’ve made a draft image of the design idea on top of blog screenshots:

After that I’ve did a composition of clean files in Synfig Studio (I used screenshots there too - you could see “template” layer at the bottom in a .sif file).

To get an images for HTML layout I’ve rendered composition to design-r1.png and design-r2.png files (you could find them in archive). Then I’ve used GIMP to split those images into parts (see “cuts” directory in archive).

The rest of the work was a dancing with HTML code to make al those pieces look nice in most browsers.
