I noticed there is an app to import Gimp. I was wondering if Krita drawings can also be imported.

nop, the .kra with layers can’t be automatically imported / exported from / to synfig / krita.
Please can you add as feature request to both synfig and krita bug tracker ?
But still, you can use the File/export/png |jpg file format from krita
I sent it to both bug trackers.
