Help ... am a New User of Synfig

Hey Guys!

im really excited to start learning Synfig, the only problem is i cant understand how to install the software

my machine specs are:

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,2
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 3.06 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 6 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
OS X: Version 10.6.8

i have downloaded these two files.

  1. synfigstudio_0.63.04_2_i386.dmg
  2. synfig-0.63.05.tar

what do i do now? should i just open the dmg file?

need some guidance

Hi omerwaiz, welcome to the forums.
You should double click the dmg package and then it should open it in a window. After that you simply need to drag the Synfig icon into the Applications folder from a standard Finder window.

I’m new to Mac too and haven’t tried to install it using dmg yet becuse I am Synfig coder and I focused to have Synfig Studio made from source code.

Anyway, it should work.
